New identity for Taidehalli (Helsinki Kunsthalle) by Tsto
“Our approach for renewing the identity started out from an architectural view point. The Taidehalli building was finished 1928 by Jarl Eklund and Hilding Ekelund. The identity features a set of graphic elements that are based on the intriguing small details of the building itself. The logo draws inspiration from the main facade overlooking the entrance of the building. Although the Kunsthalle is an old and established institution it is constantly developing and looking for new ways to approach contemporary art. With this in mind we created a few alternative logo versions reflecting a similar kind of curious playfulness.”
Tsto is a graphic design agency based in Helsinki and New York. They focus on visual concepts and art direction. Their approach is thorough and hands-on. They tackle an assignment by first taking it apart to its bare essentials, and then building it in a new way that best serves the purpose. This philosophy lets them go deeper than the surface, to the hidden core of each case. Through the varied skills of our designers they find the best-suited tools to bring their ideas to life. They do it in a way that focuses on the whole but with attention to all details.
